For theologians who halt at the ‘preposterous possibility’ of the rock (Christ) following Israel for 40 years in the wilderness, then the sudden parting (and drying) of the Red Sea so Israel could cross on dry ground, is also a stumbling block to believe as well. 😞

As for me, God said it, I believe it, that settles it for me. ✝️😇🙏

But … bring on part 2 Amy! I’m curious …

❤️😉

Meaning of meanings... How? Spirit insight imbued via the living pillars of Truth, Beauty and Goodness?

Thank You Amy

To have my intellect ~and~ my heart guided by the Spirit is definitely the goal. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for your comments and interest, Mickey! "Meaning of meaning" is my way of inquiring into whether its our human intellect which determines what things mean, or whether they are themselves imbued with meaning. Spirit imbued? Perhaps!

I think I experience meaning relative to value. Spirit insight + Spirit value = Spirit fruit? Meaning is applied Value. Value derived through a unique will seeking Father's will unfolding as the experience of Spirit meaning. The human intellect certainly determines what things mean by seeking valuation of things ... An appraisal based upon the economy of God or conversely, the economy of the world. Perhaps "things" are imbued with a spectrum of potential meaning activated by a sovereign will. A personality that declares, "My will is to do Thy Will" is an Intellect declaring that it will be guided by Spirit rather than guided by self. Maybe

Love the question, Amy. Jean-Luc Marion wrote about how the unseen world will reveal itself like a bulging through the liminal space into our own. We “see it” but not all of it. That’s how I view this story. Do I take it literally? Yes. But not “literal” as determined from our perspective. Literal in that we see it protruding into our world, but it still remains mostly hidden.

This is an interesting essay. I would tend to agree with your statement, "Does it need to be one or the other, though? Can or should it even be both?". For me, either way there are layers of Truth embedded in the reading. I wonder if Ancient knowledge of science and history should be related to spiritual understanding one way or another. Can spiritual understanding stand alone regardless of one's relationship with modernity, materialism, and/or mysticism?

Looking forward to Part II

Oh Rodney, that’s a very good question! You’ve given me something to ponder. I think the question I’m always after in all my writing is: what’s the meaning of meaning? Or put another way: how do things mean?

Thanks for your comments and for reading my piece!
